Jennifer Norback Fine Art is honored to announce the opening of a new exhibition in conjunction with Chimney Rock Winery in Napa, California - “Cameo” by René Romero Schuler. In this unique show, the works of Schuler – who has been part of solo and group exhibitions in Paris, Greece, Beirut, Chicago, and Miami in the past year – will be paired with the gorgeous scenery of the Cape Dutch-inspired estate, whose distinctive gables and bright white stucco exteriors have earned it the nickname of “brightest light in the Stags Leap District.” “Cameo” is part of A Partnership Between Artist and Artisan - a collaboration between Schuler and Chimney Rock.
The title ‘cameo’ evokes an image of a cherished family jewel, a shell or gem in which the bare silhouette of a beautiful woman has been lovingly carved in relief. Or “Cameo” makes us think of a brief yet vivid appearance of a movie or play by an actor who can steal a whole scene with only glance. Similarly, the works of art in this exhibition by René Romero Schuler say much by revealing little. Her paintings are literally “sculpted” out of oil with a palette knife, and the human figure, by being deconstructed of her specificity, speaks to us in the direct and universal language of gesture. These abstracted figures, executed in thick impastos, resonate through richly layered tones of three dimensions. We get only a brief glimpse of the subject but it is vivid enough for us to become entranced.
A Terlato Family Property on the fabled Silverado Trail in the world-renowned Stags Leap District of Napa Valley, Chimney Rock Winery introduced its premiere vintage in 1989. In the time since, the beautiful Cape Dutch-inspired estate winery (known for its distinctive gables and bright white stucco exteriors) is regularly recognized as one of the world’s premier fine wine producers. Since the Terlato family assumed sole ownership of Chimney Rock in 2004, they have had a clear vision of the potential of this great estate. They have steadfastly supported and shepherded only the highest standards in viticulture and winemaking. The Chimney Rock estate now comprises 119 acres of vineyards divided into 28 distinct blocks, allowing for highly specialized viticulture suited to each specific site.
